McDuffie County Grand Jury indicts 25 on various crimes

A Thomson woman who was faulted for the death of another local woman following a 2016 head-on collision was indicted by a McDuffie County grand jury Dec. 12.

Lillie M. Curry, 65, of Thomson, was among the 25 indicted by the jury during its recent session. She was indicted for homicide by vehicle in the second degree and failure to maintain lane following the May 14, 2016, crash in the 1800 block of Washington Road in Thomson that killed Towanna Hicks, 41, of Thomson.

The jury also indicted Jimmy D. Williams for cocaine trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, failure to maintain lane, obstruction of an officer and possession of a weapon during the commission of a crime.

Williams’ charges were the result of a traffic stop on Sept. 1, 2016, and a criminal records search by Thomson Police revealed outstanding warrants in McDuffie County for the Decatur man.
